2XL Commercial are delighted to share with you another good news story within the East Midlands student property market.
The Gregory Hotel based on Ilkeston Road in Nottingham was having trading difficulties and was looking like becoming derelict and another blot on the landscape similar to many pubs that have been left to fall apart due to the recession. This was until the eagle-eyed guys at Uptown Property Developments acquired the Public House with a view to converting it to top class student accommodation and the results have been impressive.
Director Nick Mcenery of Uptown confirmed: “We had a great opportunity to purchase the pub and to improve the site and general appearance of the building but also to provide high quality student accommodation. The days of dingy damp ridden student accommodation are long gone and we wanted to provide rooms that are top class with all the mod cons you would expect to allow the students a pleasant stay in the city.“
The building which has seen a significant uplift in value and demand for the property means the guys won’t stop there.
Director Adam Marlow went on to say: “We are regularly looking for other sites and projects and with the continued support that we get from Darren Willoughby at 2XL Commercial in acquiring finance, we hope we can continue to identify further sites for development. 2XL Commercial’s support has been invaluable to assist us in getting finance at the best rates possible and is a valuable part of our development team.“
